Promoting Awareness and Actions for Covid-19 Responses in the Marginalized Dalit Community

Objectives:

  • Ensuring food security and reducing health risks for the people affected by COVID-19;
  • Raising awareness among the youth about rights
  • To make the dalit women income-oriented by providing training assistance and materials.

Activities:

  1. Awareness-raising campaign on COVID-19 safety measures;
  2. Formation of youth groups, consisting of male and female for designing and executing an awareness-raising campaign for preventing the spread of the virus;
  3. Training for selected youths on how to manage an effective awareness-raising campaign;
  4. Livelihood support to vulnerable dalit women;
  5. Provide umbrella to street shoemakers containing COVID related information;
  6. Demonstration of handwashing and mask distribution to selected school students;
  7. Information dissemination by youth with their community through online platforms (e.g., Zoom/Facebook Messenger/IMO) and other means of communication;
  8. Provide training to youths on Human Rights, Rights to information and prepare a sustainability road map;
  9. Supply of personal protective equipment, masks, and disinfectant kits;
  10. Set up Disinfectant corner at the community level;
  11. Distribution of Food packages among most vulnerable elderly community members with food, sanitization materials, and masks;
  12. Safety support to carry/referring emergency patients;
  13. Provide Income Generating Activity (IGA) training to approximately 40 of the most vulnerable Dalit women by available govt. Resources;
  14. Organize training on safe health and hygiene to be safe from Covid-19 and other infectious diseases for 40 dalit women;
  15. Distribution of IGA materials for 40 dalit women to start up potential IGA;
  16. Organize training on conflict management;
  17. Training advocacy/negotiation capacity with local government and service providers;
  18. Training on basic reproductive and sexual health rights;
  19. Training on basic preventive measures for COVID-19;
  20. Public hearing;
  21. Youth Convention at upazila level;
  22. Facilitate coordination at union and upazila level of Dalit youth and community leaders to strengthen their collective efforts for linkage building with various services ( Union Level);

  24. Submission of Memorandum with enlisted beneficiaries’ to the local authority by community and youth leaders;
